Carving and Lettering

The carving/lettering aspect of my work makes a satisfying contrast to the dry-stone work, in that it requires delicacy, sharp tools and precision of a finer kind. I have created grave-stones and memorials for pets as well as people; carvings suitable for outdoor display or indoor, and a variety of things such as house name-plates and inscriptions on seats and cairns. Letter-cutting is a job that involves a surprising amount of preparatory work; the importance of a good lay-out and choice of fonts cannot be over-emphasised, and time spent on this is well-rewarded.
